Everytime i try it, it will say inappropriate item

Maybe you should try to use (Udi) the upgrade robot , then choose "Dope Upgrade"

What upgrade npc are you using? Bobochan at flaris or udin??
If your upgrading items with chaos on their names you'll have to use udin
And bobochan on normal items
